Day 5

Let me tell you about yesterday; I was pedaling for 10 hours and 25 minutes up hill! I rolled into Wickenburg AZ after 116 plus miles 30 minutes or so after sun down. AZ desert is much richer in color and plant life with the big cactuses. I tried to take some meaningful pictures. I rode through 3 rain squalls, fought challenging head on and side winds, similar, but weaker then the day long headwinds on day 4.

I turned around for this picture; was not even half way yesterday at the time.
What am I supposed to think as I wheel by this?
I was trying to capture some of the cactuses I was seeing.
Here I am pedaling uphill in Arizona’s high desert

  1. The cacti behind you on the photo are Saguaro (pronounced Sa Wa Ro) and you should be seeing lots of them on your trek. Last February we drove through the areas that you are biking and it can be pretty challenging even in a car when the winds pick up or squalls hit. Stay safe, enjoy. Hugs, aunt Lise and Uncle Martin

    1. Aunt Lise and Uncle Martin – thank you for the good wishes. That was some tough traveling. We have hit the half way point and plan to increase our daily mileage.
